Back in the day, before airlines and eurail passes, only two kinds of people actually got to see the world. The first were filthy rich, highly pampered, and worthless to anyone but their brown-nosing entourage.
The second were crude, cursing, honorable, scaliwags, aka sailors. If you didn't have the gold, you needed the brass. If you didn't have either, you were pretty much stuck where you were born. But if you gave up your dry life, you could get to see shanghai, tahiti, casablanca, thailand and other exotic places.
The downside was it took a heck of a long time to get to these places. Which meant lots of hours on board a ship in the middle of the ocean with no women and no bars. But one thing they did have on board was rum. Barrels of it. They also had loads of spices, dried fruits and other goodies that the great sailing ships transported between europe and africa and asia.
So many a sailor got creative and came up with his own special recipe of spiced rum. It made the long days on the seas go down easier. And shortened the wait between ports of call.
After collecting old recipes and late nights of taste testing, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum was developed. A 92-proof blend of caribbean-style rum with vanilla, lime and other spices. Like a true sailor rum, it's strong but goes down smooth. You'll like it.
